CUWB Classes
Intro Session

Ideal for: Anyone interested in learning more about our gym!

We require that everyone takes an intro session before signing up for membership and regular boxing classes. The Intro is a chance to come check out the gym, learn some of the basics, do a few mini workouts, and hear more about how membership works.

NEW All-Gender Boxing Class
for the month of January (intro session not required)

C-U Women's Boxing prides itself on being a safe place for women and femmes to work out and learn boxing skills. We also recognize a need in the community for people with more diverse genders to have the same opportunities. We are offering an All-Gender class through the month of January (Fridays @ 5:30 PM, January 10 - 31). Coach Martha Mills will lead participants through basic punches, defense moves, techniques, and dynamic, modifiable workouts. This is a respectful, affirming space.
Coach Martha has years of experience taking boxing classes and with queer activism in the C-U community. They were formerly on the Board of Uniting Pride of Champaign County and have been a member of multiple advocacy groups over their almost 20 years in Champaign. They are also the founder and matriarch of the mutual aid group The Name Change Fund.
(Regular) Boxing
Ideal for: All members
Each boxing session will include bag drills and cardio work. These classes will focus on different things, including but not limited to: basic combos, footwork, defense, stations, speed, and power. Members should feel free to go at their own pace, ask questions when needed, and modify activities or reps according to their abilities and how their body is feeling.

Advanced Boxing
Ideal for: members very familiar with basic form (punches 1-6, footwork, slips, rolls) and comfortable with more cardio/longer drills
While similar to our regular boxing sessions, this class is designed to skip the time spent on learning the basics, and instead spend that time on longer bag drills, more advanced combos, and extra cardio or reps. Members are encouraged to still take breaks whenever needed, while also challenging themselves when able.
