FAQ

INTRO CLASSES

How do I sign up to be a member?
We require that everyone come to one of our Intro Sessions before joining regular classes.  At the Intro Session, we will go over the basics of boxing, do some mini workouts, and tell you more about how gym membership works.  You will receive a membership application at the intro class, and we will explain how to sign up for our regular boxing classes more then.  Intro Classes are $10 at registration, and last 60 minutes.

When are your Intro Classes?
We usually have 1-2 a month, and the dates go up onto our booking site on the 15th of each month.

How do I sign up for an Intro Class?
You can go to our homepage and click the "Book Your Class Here" button, and that will take you to our booking site.  Please be sure to register for an Intro and not a Regular Boxing Class.

Why do I have to take an Intro Class?
This is a great way to learn the basics of boxing before coming to class, and also a good opportunity to try the gym out and see what we are like before making any commitment.  We generally have one coach running each boxing class, so while they are more than happy to help you out, answer questions, and remind you of boxing form, they cannot teach you all of the basics that day.  The Intro will help you be and feel more prepared for your first official boxing class.

Can I skip the Intro Class if I have previous boxing/martial arts experience?
No.  While there are many great boxing gyms out there, we do not all run our classes the same.  Coaching styles and form focus can vary greatly from gym to gym, and we have found that even those who have boxed before appreciate the Intro Class and what it provides.

When can I start?
Once you have taken the Intro Class, you can sign up for our first boxing session!  The Intro Class does expire, however, so be sure to hop into your first class within 6 weeks of taking the Intro.

I took an intro 4 months ago - can I still join the gym?
Not yet (soon!)--  If you are not within 6 weeks of your Intro, you will need to re-take the Intro Class before starting at the gym.  If you'd like to skip the registration fee, you may email us with the class date you want to re-take and we will register you for that one.

MEMBERSHIP
What kind of memberships do you offer?
We offer a monthly membership, based on how many classes you plan to take each month.

Can I change which membership I have?
Yep!  Just be sure to send us an email (CUWBmembership@gmail.com) with your specific change request by the 25th of the month prior.

Do you offer drop in classes?
No.  The quality of your boxing experience is important to us, and we believe that one of the things that truly helps people progress in and enjoy their boxing time is consistency.  While boxing is fun, it can be a little challenging to learn in the beginning, and if you are dropping in only here and there every few weeks, it makes it very difficult to master the basics and progress.

Can I cancel any time?
Yes - as long as you email us by the 25th of the month, we can cancel your upcoming month, no questions asked.  All changes must be emailed in (CUWBmembership@gmail.com) at least a week before the upcoming payment to apply.

BOXING/CLASSES
Do I need to buy gloves and wraps before I start?
No - we always have gloves at the gym that you can use during classes (they are cleaned between uses), and we will give you a brand new pair of hand wraps at your first class (don't worry, we go over hand wrapping at the Intro).  If you'd like to buy your own gloves, you can, but we encourage members to try out different brands and sizes at the gym before they buy.
Can my child join CU Women's Boxing?
No, at this time, all of our classes are for 18 years and older.
Can my child or friend come watch?
No.  While someone popping in to see the space for a few minutes as they pick you up or drop you off is fine, we do not have the space or liabilty coverage for non-members to be at the gym during classes.

Do you teach self-defense?
No.  While our boxing classes are great for building your confidence in your own strength and abilities, none of what we teach is true self defense.  We focus on the sport of boxing, and boxing as a challenging workout.

I have not worked out for a long time, do you have classes for me?
Absolutely!  Please come box with us :). All of our classes are designed to give all fitness levels and boxing levels a great workout.  While the workouts can be challenging, we always encourage our members to modify when needed (we are happy to show you modifications), adjust reps if needed, and take breaks when you see fit.  This is YOUR workout, and our coaches are here to encourage you and set you up for success, but YOU know your body best and get to decide the intensity that you want to be at during each class or drill.
Where do I park?
We unfortunately do not have a public parking lot (the lots next to and across the street are not ours to use).  There is street parking in front of the gym and members are welcome to park there.
